J2 Tattoo art

Tattoo art has been becoming more and more popular over the last ten years. It has given people a way to express them selves. Piercing and Gaging has also been very popular in american culture. I believe that tattoos will keep on expanding in popularity and become a major part of art history.

J2 Food Art

When thinking about art it does not have to be paint on canvas it can be metal in a building clay in a pot or food in a meal. I think that food art is one of the most popular art form in america today. My girl friends favorite show is the cake challenge on food network and make sculptures out of cake. Besides cake challenge there is also Cake Boss and also Ace of Cakes.

J2 Art in media

New media is also a form of art. One of my favorite bands Arcade Fire (which won best album of the year for The Suburbs album) made a online music video that incorporates multimedia with adds more art to the already music art. They incorporated google maps and a type effect that makes the video really unique.

J2 Chicago

Chicago is my favorite city to visit. I love the art in Millennium park like the Bean, the Millennium park fountain, the architecture of the Burnham Pavilion, and Wrigley Field. There is something about walking into Wrigley Field on game day and looking out at the ivy covered wall and think that the man who designed this place was an artist.

J2 album art

I love album art. It gives visual art to the art of music. It does not matter if it is in a drawing, painting, computer generated image, photography, or all mixed genre piece. Some album art just represents the artist, yet some put art on the album to represent the music as a whole.

I love the drawing of the album revolver by The Beatles. One of my favorite photographed album covers is a modest mouse cover It is a long drive for someone with nothing to think about. The album art represents the music in side the album great.

J2 shading

I am a big fan of shading in art. I love to do shading work my self. I hope to expand my shading technic in class. I found a great example of good shading on the internet. I hope that my skill will improve to the skill level of the shading in the example picture.

J2 Travis A. Louie

I stumbled upon, Travis A. Louie while looking at one of my favorite bands album cover, Les Claypool of Fungi and Foe.

Travis A. Louie does classic style portraits of rude looking men and monsters in suits. I hope to incorporate the same feeling of awkwardness in my work.

J2 Black and White

I am a fan of newer black and white movies. I like Frank Miller films such as Sin City and The Spirit. I also like the movie rumble fish. When they do present color in the movies it makes for a great effect. I also love this effect in photography. I have seen a lot of the work done for senior pictures. IO hope to do some of the computer graphic project like this and also some shading work as well.

J2 Pointillism

Pointillism has always been one of my favorite forms of art. Pointillism is the technique of painting in which small distinct dots of pure color are applied in patterns to form an image. The one painting that got me interested in pointillism was Seurat's Grande Jatte and Circus. The painting reminds me of a LCD tv. all of the pixels coming together to make an image. I hope that I will be able to work with pointillism in class this year.
